Let’s face it, terrorism isn’t the only thing that can wipe a vista off the fact of the earth – industrial accidents, acts of war, fires, floods, hurricanes, volcanoes, modern “progress,” and even steady erosion, can all take a toll. Even being ‘discovered’ as a tourist destination can substantially ruin the experience for those who come late in the game. How vulnerable is the place you want to see ‘sometime?’

The government announced today that it may ban peanuts on flights. The reasoning? Some folks with severe peanut allergies are ‘afraid to fly’ because of the risk posed by peanuts on board.

“Less options” translates easily into “less choice.” And depending on how the merger, if approved, were to go down, consumers might see gates shrink and airlines disappear from certain ‘less popular’ airports.

The Supreme Court today refused to lift a temporary injunction which prohibits the company Frequent Flier Depot from buying and selling frequent flier points. AA had sued to stop the practice, claiming that its AAdvantage program was a contract, and as such, precludes individuals from selling their points to brokers and others.

Here are another six books that have inspired me to travel of the years. Over the years, the one thing guaranteed to hold my attention most in a book is a vivid description of somewhere I want to visit, or better yet a vivid presentation that creates a desire to visit a new place. Simply put, the location is, for me, the best character in the book.
