Muslim Incident in MSP

The Council on American-Islamic Relations called Tuesday for an investigation into the behavior of airline staff and airport security in the removal of six Muslim scholars from a US Airways flight a day earlier.

I would say that it might be attributed to the Imams ignorange about standing up as a group of muslims on a plane and chanting in a tongue that is most likely not understood by the majority of passengers.

Would this have been resolved simply if one of them had advised the flight crew? Perhaps asked for some space in the galley? To be allowed in the jetway? Back off the plane?

I am all for religious freedom and welcome the muslims to our country as long as they are legally here. However, this entire world seems to have lost their common sense!

You're right about that, John. The way the world is now, being jittery about Muslims, they should have informed the flight crew what their plans are.

It just does not stop there either. If I was traveling with an epileptic, I would advise that there might be an episode. Someone with Turettes Syndrome.

If I am prepared, as a passenger or a FA, allwill go a lot smoother. Federal agents can carry weapons onboard, but they notify prior. So, if a FA sees a gun, she or he knows the deal and is not diverting a flight.

Common sense!

Perhaps they should not have scheduled a flight during prayer time?

Frankly any group standing around and chanting on a plane or waiting to board it is going to make me nervous, doesn't matter what language they're doing it in or what religion it is.

There is an accepted code of behavior on planes. They were outside of that behavior. I put the onus on them.

They essentially asked, why are we still ignorant of their ways and practices. I ask them, why haven't they been teaching us?

The problem I see is one of the two articles says "Three of them stood and said their normal evening prayers together on the plane" but the other article says, "three members of the group prayed in the terminal before the six boarded the plane...'We did nothing' on the plane."

The propriety of the airline's actions depends greatly on which of these two statements is true...

Added: I'm having trouble finding other reports which claim the former.
