This coming spring, a sleek new Boeing aircraft, dubbed the Dreamliner was supposed to take off from Detroit Metro-Wayne Airport, taking passengers to Shanghai in style. Now that plan has been put aside.

Delivery dates for Boeing’s planes have been pushed back due to the just-settled machinists’ strike and other issues. As a result, the 747, the 777 Freighter, the 787 and 737 will be delayed a couple of months. In a sense, this is good news for the airlines who announced that they are delaying their fleet purchases over the next couple of years due to concerns over the bottom line.

You could almost hear a collective sigh of relief over the weekend by Boeing’s sales force and a few of their customers like ANA (All Nippon Airways), JAL (Japan Airlines), and Air India, who are all counting on receiving their first shipments of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner some time next year. As first reported in the Seattle Times, the Boeing strike is over.
