Midwest Airlines is fading away without going bankrupt
Midwest Airlines will be down to 23 airplanes soon as it continues to downsize. But how far can an airline downsize before it no longer exists?
NWA adds fees, cuts service, freezes workers
Northwest Airlines announced “revenue enhancements,” which means passengers will pay more fees. They will cut capacity in the fall and will stop hiring of pilots and flight attendants.
How NWA’s CEO gets richer
Pilots have had their pay slashed. Virtually all airline workers have had their pensions stripped, medical coverage sliced and salaries diced. Stockholders were sore-out-of-luck. Bond holders got pennies on their dollars. Passengers have seen service crumble. One might think that the airline CEOs should bear some responsibility. Evidently not.
