Qantas inaugurates A380 service to LAX

Qantas flight 93 touched down at Los Angeles International Airport early yesterday, completing the airline’s first A380 flight from Melbourne, Australia. The world’s biggest jetliner was greeted by public officials and Hollywood celebrities, including John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

Last week, a Qantas Airbus A330 bound for Perth, Australia from Singapore made an emergency landing in Learmonth, Australia after the aircraft experienced a sudden change in altitude resulting in injuries. While cruising at 37,000 feet, it suddenly gained altitude then dropped 1,000 feet down in a little over a minute. Initial reports blamed it on turbulence.
