Destination ski resorts face airline triple-whammy
Distant destination ski and snowboard resorts will be facing strong headwinds of rising airfares, diminishing flight schedules and new fees for transporting skis and snowboards. In the past, the main problems faced by marketers were financial and emotional — costs vs. great snow. Today changes in airlift capacity might mean no airline seats to reach destination resort slopes.

Two great spring skiing airports — SLC and RNO
Skiers and snowboarders here in the U.S.A. are enjoying an epic year of snow. Right now, the U.S. has the best skiing and riding conditions in the world. Better yet, most of the resorts with the longest seasons in North America are within only an hour of two great spring skiing airports—Salt Lake City, Utah, and Reno, Nevada.
Spring ski dummy downhill races
On Lake Tahoe’s north rim, two Nevada resorts, Mt. Rose and Diamond Peak, will be holding their annual “Dummy Downhill” races on April 5th. Both resorts are less than an hour from Reno, Nevada, and have great conditions right now.
Davos and Klosters marriage by trails
The Swiss resorts of Klosters and Davos are only about a half-hour by train from each other, but worlds apart in their town experience. Klosters village spreads with wooden chalets-style buildings and Davos is square, concrete and urban.
Taos NM opens to snowboarders
Within the ski and snowboard world the opening of Taos to snowboarders is monumental. To celebrate and with a sense of history, Taos is running a lottery for the first 40 places on the chairlift to raise money for charity.
