Making the most of a delay
In light of the latest dismal report on travel delays, Joe Brancatelli gives us some tips for keeping sane during the idle time. While he can’t guarantee that you’ll get the VIP treatment if you follow his advice, he does promise that you’ll do better than most. Brancatelli’s suggestions:
- Come prepared for the worst. Know of several flights leaving for your destination in case the one you’re schedule on is delayed. You just might get yourself on another flight.
- Find the airport club. Airlines still operate them for members. If you’re not a member, you can likely get a day pass for $50.
- Load your laptop with plenty of entertainment (videos, games, reading material) to reduce the boredom.
- Sit down for a meal or a fancy cocktail.
- If you have to spend the night, make your own accommodations and work out the reimbursement with the airline later.
