Airport VIP lounges now cater to kids, too

It used to be that when you went into an airline VIP club like the Red Carpet Club, Admirals Club, or the US Airways Club, you would only see adults. Kids were often looked at with disdain by the business travelers who just wanted a quiet place to work.

Not anymore. CNN is reporting that more and more people are bringing their kids into these lounges. As a result, airlines like British Airways have set aside a KidsZone in their lounges. The room is stocked with toys, reading materials, TV, and Internet access. It also has a buffet with soup, sandwiches, cookies and ice cream. Kids can also just run around and release their energy before boarding the plane.

You don’t have to be wealthy or flying business or first class to gain access to the lounges. PriorityPass offers three membership plans which allow you to use these lounges anytime you travel.

The standard level has annual fee of $99 and a per-visit fee of $27. If you fly often, there is a plan with an annual fee of $249. It comes with 10 free visits. After that, it’s $27. If you are a frequent flier, you can pay an annual fee of $399 which gives you unlimited access to the lounge for no additional charge. Each guest you bring must pay $27 regardless of the level you purchase.

LoungePass offers a one-day pass to select lounges for as low as $25 if you book in advance.

Both of these sites, however, do not have an agreement with all airlines. In Los Angeles, for example, LoungePass gives you access only to Continental’s Presidents Club.

Even if you aren’t traveling with kids, these lounges are a nice haven from the hustle and bustle outside.
