BA boss rebuffs ‘myths’ over expansion

Willie Walsh, the chief executive of British Airways has spoken out against what he calls ’six myths’ promoted by opponents of expansion at London’s Heathrow Airport. In short, he said the expansion would be better for the environment because air transport generates less atmospheric carbon dioxide than road travel, make travel easier for business travelers in London and abroad and maintain Heathrow’s long-haul service. Travel Mole has the rest of Walsh’s comments. Wednesday is the deadline for public consultation on the expansion. Greenpeace protesters opposed to the expansion were arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing criminal damage and entering a restricted zone during a protest.
