BoltBus emulates Southwest

BoltBus, a joint-venture between Greyhound Lines Inc. and Peter Pan Bus Lines, debuts tomorrow as a low-cost alternative for travel between New York and Boston. The Boston Globe reports that BoltBus is taking its cues from discount airlines like Southwest Airlines by offering lower prices and a positive, entertaining atmosphere. David Hall, the Greyhound manager tasked with developing the BoltBus concept, turned to the Internet. “We learned as much from message boards and blogs as we did from consumer research,” Hall told the Globe.
