Bored of the hotel gym treadmill? Run it off
If you like running but get bored of using the treadmill, The Westin in New York’s Times Square may have a solution for you.
The hotel has teamed up with City Running Tours to offer private, guided running tours of New York City.
According to the company, “guests may exercise while learning about the history, neighborhoods and sites of the 301-square-mile metropolis, named the third best running city in the US.”
Karen Colliton-Thomson, director of sales and marketing for The Westin New York at Times Square, says:
Over the last few years we have found that people are looking for ways aside from the treadmill to maintain their fitness regime while on the Road…A guided running tour allows business or pleasure travelers to see and learn about all that New York has to offer while getting some healthy exercise.
The tour can be one-on-one or occur in groups. They operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It starts and ends at the hotel.
Pricing starts at $60 per person for the first six miles, and $6 per person for each mile thereafter. Five percent of all fees are donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Participants receive a t-shirt, a photo and running-stores discounts.
So the next time you’re in New York, see the sights, learn about the city, and keep fit all at the same time.

I just read a great article in Time about the growing services that specialized concierges in upscale hotels offer.
I think this one in particular is a great idea. I know plenty of folks who enjoy running but can’t stand the treadmill.
