Delta changes course, revives fare increases — A day after retreating on fare increases, on Tuesday most major U.S. airlines revived increases of $10 per round trip on many domestic flights to cover the rising cost of jet fuel. Delta Air Lines Inc., which broke with the price increase on Monday, reconsidered overnight and pushed fares higher Tuesday morning.

The commission voted unanimously to add a fifth cent to raise an extra $1.4 million a year for additional marketing, beach renourishment, cultural arts and events, and a new visitors’ center on Interstate 95.

Fuel pump blues? Tell it to an airline — You think you’ve got fuel pump blues. At American Airlines, the sharp increase in gas prices means the country’s largest carrier is now paying out nearly $15 million a day for jet fuel — more than double what it cost it just three years ago. Gerard Arpey, American’s CEO, said yesterday the airline will shell out $1.4 billion more this year for fuel than last year — or a total of about $5.4 billion.

Entrepreneur sells in-flight pillows — As financially troubled airlines trim costs ever closer to the bone, travelers find they need to pack a meal and, now, even a pillow, if they hope to be comfortable on a long flight. First American Airlines, then Delta removed pillows from aircraft, along with meals on domestic flights.

Woman goes on joyride at Las Vegas airport — A 33-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested Monday after she stole a National Guard vehicle and then an aircraft tug, which she drove around the North Las Vegas Airport, police said. The incident has officials working on making the airport more secure.
