Discount carriers target biz class
Discount airlines are courting a more lucrative travel market — the business traveler. According to The New York Times, both Southwest and JetBlue now offer fully refundable fares and plan to introduce in-flight Internet access this year — both moves are intended to attract business travelers. Mary Ellen George, general manager for Advito, a travel management consultant based in Dallas, told the Times, “There’s definitely a willingness to fly low-cost carriers as they continue to add services.â€

Southwest and JetBlue would show they were totally serious about BizClass when they offer a product similar to what European carriers offer within Europe.
I just flew on Lufthansa between IST and FRA. The front cabin was configured 3X3, but the seats in the front of the plane had footrests, and the middle seats converted into “trays”. In other words, in the BizClass section, passengers sat only by the window or the aisle in a coach seat. The middle seat remained empty, providing “elbow room.”
