Easter Island tourist faces fine, ban
A man who chipped an earlobe off an ancient Maoi to take as a souvenir faces a $17,000 fine and a three-year ban from Easter Island. According to an Associated Press report, Marko Kulju, 26, of Finland, must also make a public apology for defacing one of the volcanic-rock statues that are protected by Chilean law.
