Flights capped at Newark
In an effort to ease delays, the federal government is capping the number of flights at 83 per hour during peak hours at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty Airport. The same cap applies to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. A similar cap already exists at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The Associated Press reports that The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs all three airports, knew the caps at Newark were coming, but the government had not released the specific number until Monday. The three New York-area airports have become notorious for delayed flights in recent years, often spreading those delays across the country.
