Foreign travel will increase for U.S. citizens this summer

According to a summer travel forecast released by AAA, Americans are still eager to roam abroad in spite of a weak dollar. More than 25 million Americans are expected to travel to another country this summer, up 2.6 percent from last year. This figure reflects all travel outside of the United States, including Canada and Mexico.

China and India are expected to see the largest increases in travel from the U.S. this summer. As for European travel, France, Ireland, Italy and Germany are all expected to see increases in travel from U.S. citizens as well.

It is expected that Americans traveling internationally this summer will be spending more due to global inflation and the weaker U.S. dollar.

Betsy Sell, Managing Director of Travel for AAA on the increase in foreign travel:

The potential for Americans to travel overseas is enormous. Americans love to travel and they have lost their anxiety about traveling internationally. Now, with more Americans required to get passports as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), we are going to have more people looking to explore other parts of the world this summer.
