Hottest cruise ships for 2008
Taking a cruise this year? You might want to try one of the new offerings for 2008, which feature, among the usual things: onboard grass, a surfing simulator and an ice rink. Forbes Traveler highlights some of the gaudiest offerings in its review. Take, for instance, the 113,000 ton, 3,080 passenger, Ruby Princess. The ship touts private cabanas and a giant video screen up on deck that broadcasts movies and concerts all day (and night) long. Celebrity’s Solstice has a patch of grass on an upper deck for picnicking, golf putting and croquet. Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas has a surfing simulator that shoots out 20-mile-an-hour waves. Not up for waves? Then you can go ice skating instead.
