How do you spell summer travel value? Some spell it ‘cruise’

With fuel prices soaring and the economy in a tailspin, some predict a gloomy forecast for the travel industry but Bob Sharak of the Cruise Lines International Association might disagree.

“No segment of the travel industry is recession-proof, but cruising has proven in the past to be somewhat recession-resistant”, he said. “Americans want the most out of their vacations, and dollar for dollar the total package you get with a cruise is the best vacation value.”

It’s a fact that 2007 saw the cruise industry take 12.6 million passengers to sea and, as a whole, the industry has seen continued growth since. The projections for 2008 are slightly better with an estimated 12.8 million travelers expected to come aboard and take to the high-seas.

Industry analysts say that cruises will remain an attractive option for many families wishing to travel this summer as they are worried over how much a long car trip will end up costing them.

How do I spell summer travel value? Bicycle touring!! Traveling by bike is really quite cheap - all we have to pay for is food and an occasional campground. I highly recommend it!

In fact, we are about to take off to ride our bikes from Alaska to Argentina - with our ten-year-old twin boys! You can read about our journey at http://www.familyonbikes.org
