MGM Mirage fires 400 managers
More than 400 middle management employees got a pink slip Monday from MGM Mirage Inc., the largest casino operator on the Las Vegas Strip. The cost-saving measure was expected to clip $75 million annually from the company’s expenses, according to an Associated Press report. MGM Mirage runs the Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mirage and Mandalay Bay casinos in Las Vegas. “We were able to see the signs of trouble on the economic horizon last August,” spokesman Alan Feldman told the AP. “The economy was beginning to worsen and clearly was not going to get better in the immediate term.”
