Norowatch: guests infected at UK hotel

Norovirus season now appears to be in full swing. Earlier this week, about 100 guests on the Holland America’s Ryndam were infected by the gastrointestinal virus. Now come reports of guests being afflicted at the Derwent Hotel in the UK.

About 20 rooms at the property have been disinfected as part of a determined attempt to stop the spread of any further infection, according to This is South Devon. Other recent victims of the norovirus include UK postal workers and Australian child care facilities.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a summary of cruise ship outbreaks going back to 1994.
