Now you’ll know if you’re getting the worst room in the house
Want to know what a hotel room is like before you even get there? A new site called Tripkick might help.
Instead of reviewing properties by hotel, Tripkick rates them by room, promising to find you the perfect one. (Think Seatguru for hotels.)
The early reviews are favorable. The influential blog TechCrunch reported
Many rooms have been documented with an extreme level of detail, listing the size of the room, any possible noise concerns, and even the view a guest can expect from the balcony.
I tried the site myself and, found many hotels still missing. I used the “advanced search” feature and asked for hotels in Las Vegas. It makes no mention of the Luxor, probably because none of the owners have stayed there or they chose not to review it.
Here’s how it breaks down:
City (may include surrounding area) - Number of hotels reviewed
Boston - 18
Chicago - 23
Las Vegas - 21
Los Angeles - 21
Miami - 23
New York - 37
Orange County (Calif.) - 15
San Diego - 21
San Francisco - 22
Washington, DC - 24
Overall, I think this is a promising site and can be a great aid once it has more areas and hotels listed.
