NWA CEO says oil breaking budgets

The CEO of Northwest Airlines, Doug Steenland, calls skyrocketing oil prices a “serious budget-breaker.” Don’t look now, Doug, but the price of oil rose above $108 a barrel today. The Associated Press reports that Steenland said fuel costs are making finances tight for the carrier that emerged from bankruptcy just nine months ago. With $100-a-barrel oil, the airline will spend $1.7 billion on fuel, which is now Northwest’s largest expense.

    Dear Mr. Steenland,

    My name is Jacqueline Jones.

    Sir,
I purchased a ticket for my sister Ebony Byes on Northwest airlines 28 Jul 08, from Erie PA to Columbia South Caroline, which was to arrive in Columbia at 3;20 PM the flight was cancelled and she was told they could not get her another flight until the next day Sir we were having a schuduled family reunion that weekend and she was on a time frame. What happen is that she ended up being rerouted to Altania Georgia which was a two hour drive for family memebers to pick her up she was given know details of the where about of her loggede when we did call Northwest to try and locate her loggege knowone could tell us where her loggege ad we were told to call back the next day, which we did to find that the loggege section was closed on the weekend so she wnt without her logeage for the hole weekend and family members had to pitch in to purchase her clothes and other personal things.

Bottomline we feel that Northwest showed know concern in trying to help us in anyway my sister went the hole weekend without her personal belongs,

Sir we are a Military family that travels a lot and until now this is the first time Nothwest have made me feel the way they did I felt so sorry for my sister Which she was a good sport about the hole deal we prayed things would be better going back they were NOT!!!!! again her flight was again cancelled she had to stay in Detrid for th hole night she missed a day of work which she is the the sole provider in her family this trip was to be a wonderful time in relaxing and enjoying family, but instead it was the trip from HELL!!! as you know times are tough for us all and i feel Northwest could have atleast did something to help my sister she did not get her things back until she got back to Detroit Micigan I feel someone should be made aware of this and trust me we undrestand things happen that can’t be controled, but knowone seemed concerned about getting her to where she was suppose to be in the time that was scheuled on her ticket and I know in the past the airlines were a lot more friendly in trying to help you to keep your business and i know for me it’s important to have good customer service and at that time Northwest seem unconcern about her and as said we fly all the time being in United States Army so what I’m asking is for someone to look into this matter and perhaps do as I was once traeted by Northwest they gave me a free ticket for the inconvience and i was very apprective in the wayi was treated so for this to happen the way it did to my sister i was totally surprised of the way things went for my sister as i said my sister is one that does not get to travel often.

Thank You for taken the time in this matter if there are any questions please contact me.
