Pilot fired over gun incident

The US Airways pilot who said his gun accidentally went off in the cockpit during a flight has been fired. The pilot, Capt. James Langenhahn, 55, of Franklin Park, Pa., had been trained through the Federal Deck Officer program. Scott Theuer, spokesman for the newly validated US Airlines Pilots Association, said the union had heard about the pending firing. “We will fight it vigorously,” Mr. Theuer told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

So the guy shoots off a gun in a plane accidentally..and his union fights his firing?

Basically, the “union supplied” labor endangered everyone by firing a gun inside a plane. I don’t know why these unions feel they need to fight thinge no matter how ridiculous. I’m sure the pilot can quietly find a job somewhere else and be more careful in the future. The union loses a lot of crediblity for fighting this one.
