Pilot’s gun discharges on flight

If you were on Flight 1536 from Denver to Charlotte Saturday, that loud bang you heard coming from the cockpit was the pilot’s gun going off. In a statement, US Airways said the Airbus A319 plane landed safely and none of the flight’s 124 passengers or five crew members was injured. WCNC in Charlotte reports that the pilot is part of the Transportation Security Administration’s Federal Flight Deck Officer program, which trains pilots to carry guns on flights. Andrea McCauley, TSA spokeswoman, said the gun discharged in the cockpit, but she could not release how the gun was being transported at the time.
