Prediction: AA will cancel almost 400 flights on Saturday
Waking up each morning with a list of cancellations from AA seems like a poor way to make plans. Of course I have no idea of what flights will be canceled, however, I can predict with certainty that there will be cancellations on Saturday.
American Airlines in statements indicated that:
* On Thursday afternoon, 132 MD-80 aircraft were returned to service.
* Approximately 170 MD-80s expected to be available for service on Friday morning.
* AA expects 210 MD-80s available by Friday night.
* All 300 planes will be in service over the course of the weekend.
With 170 planes in service AA canceled 570 flights on Friday. Doing the arithmetic means that with 210 planes in service on Saturday will equate to 394 flights canceled on Saturday. (Of course that assumes that AA has the same number of flights scheduled on Saturday as they do during the week.)
