Royal Caribbean debuts world’s largest cruise ship in 2010
Royal Caribbean Cruises said that an area resembling New York City’s Central Park will be located in the center of its Project Genesis ship when it debuts sometime in 2010. The ship is not only set to be the largest vessel at sea — carrying up to 6,400 passengers and eclipsing the previous largest-ship “title holders” — but also the most expensive, valued at $1.24 billion.
The open-air park area, or as its being called “neighborhood”, in the center of the ship will span the entire length of a football field and reportedly includes lush foliage and quiet walkways as well as a variety of shops, restaurants, art galleries and a venue for concerts and performances.
Royal Caribbean even released “renderings” of how the park area could look once its completed — complete with real people — but I have to say that, in my humble opinion, it certainly sounds more impressive than it looks. Still, the excitement over their accomplishment on such a large-scale project is understandable.

Central Park is the first of many dynamic neighborhoods on Project Genesis which will enable each guest to find his or her own space and activity.
Details on when bookings will start and how much a trip will cost have not yet been released.

I can’t wait to see the new Royal Caribbean ship (2010.) My family and I are planning another cruise for 2010 and would love to cruise on this new ship. We are from North and South Carolina. Do you have any idea where the ship will be ported? We have cruise with Royal Caribbean one time on the Mariner of the Seas, and we loved the ship and all of the staff . It is a beautiful ship and RCCL should be very proud of what they have designed. Thanks for a wonderful time on your RCCL!!!!! We can’t wait to cruise with you again. Glenda Elliott
