Security grounds Megatron but fan is allowed to fly
I know the folks at airport security all over the world are trying to keep everyone safe by sometimes erring on the side of caution, but have they gone too far this time?
Brad Jayakody posts in his blog that he won’t be allowed to fly if he continues to wear his T-shirt.
Why? The shirt has a picture of Megatron on it. The picture of the gun held by the fictional robot was the offending illustration. Only last week a fellow tripso blogger mentioned the possibility of having pictures or tatoos of guns used as grounds to prevent passengers from boarding planes.
Megatron, for those not familiar with the character, is an alien robot from the Transformers TV series, which was made into a movie in 2007. He has a gun for an arm.
Technically, that puts the fictional robot on the no-fly list.
The picture of the gun held by the fictional robot was the offending illustration. Only last week a fellow tripso blogger mentioned the possibility of having pictures or tatoos of guns used as grounds to prevent passengers from boarding planes. Sometimes musings become reality.
Rather than cause a scene, Jayakody changed his shirt and packed it away. According to him, however, the security supervisor “comes over and is now a d*ck to me, telling me if I put the shirt on I’ll be arrested.”
The Sun confirmed the story with airport officials and published it this morning.
Jayakody also wrote a letter to British Airways to find out what its T-shirt policy is.
We suspect there’s more to this story than meets the eye.
