Heathrow connecting times upped

Fallout from the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow continues. Minimum Connecting Times (MCTs) involving connections between Terminal 5 and all the airport’s other four terminals will be extended to 120 minutes for the new facility’s first full flying season, with the additional time designed to deliver a robust service while customers and employees become familiar with the new building and transfer processes.

The MCTs will be reduced in October after the airport and the airlines affected have had a chance to adjust to the new terminal configurations. I guess this is the pain before the gain at Heathrow — another reason to avoid Heathrow this summer. Ironically, instead of having the “out-of-date” terminals used as the rational for delays and longer MCTs, the “most-modern-in-the-world” terminal is to blame.
