Travel websites get personal

Used to be travelers went online to find travel deals. While that’s still the case, websites are offering more than discounted prices these days. According to a Forbes article, new online travel companies are users more and better ways to find value in their vacations. “The influence of social networking and community services is growing significantly for online travel,” Douglas Quinby, senior director of research at PhoCusWright, told Forbes. “Seeking information and looking for perspective–like-minded experience and judgments–are currently trumping the straightforward hunt for the best price. Services that facilitate a purchasing decision by aggregating or filtering content make [online travel information] relevant to the user.”
