Watch out for weather ‘guarantees’ this summer
No one wants to get rained out on their summer vacation. But can anyone guarantee a sunny getaway?
For years, all-inclusive resorts have offered hurricane guarantees. And this summer, Priceline’s has a Sunshine Guaranteed promotion.
But a closer look at the special suggests that as with the gimmicky hurricane guarantees, you may get left out in the rain.
The Sunshine Guarantee basically says that “If your vacation is rained out, your Priceline vacation is free.” But read the fine print.
There are numerous requirements, including the length of your vacation and the dates of travel, as our friends over at Gadling point out. And that’s not all.
It must rain more than 0.50 inches for more than half of your total stay (including travel days). Rainfall amounts are measured at the destination airport of the vacation package. Rainfall will also be audited by a private independent provider of weather information.
Looks like some people may be all wet if they didn’t bother to read the rules.

Whaddya want? I think that it’’s pretty decent that they do anything for you. You actually EXPECT someone to reimburse you or compensate you because it rained on your vacation? You still used space on the plane. You still took a room at the hotel. You still put miles on the rental car. Sheesh!
