When it comes to luggage fees, Delta Air Lines is telling investors one thing — and passengers another. The carrier’s president and CFO Ed Bastian told investors at a JP Morgan aviation conference earlier this week that it plans to join United Airlines and US Airways in charging passengers for a second checked bag, according to Business Travel News. However, as early as yesterday, it was telling customers it hadn’t made up its mind about the fees (see comments).
Blogger Jeanne Leblanc predicts the second-bag surcharge will be adopted by every major airline. “With three of the Big Six on board, it’s only a matter of time before the other three follow suit,” she writes. Meanwhile, a grassroots effort by skiers to exempt them from the new fee is gaining momentum.

So can I get a credit for the many flights where I don’t check any bags?? That way when I take my once a year big trip and need to check a whopping two bags, I don’t have to pay? I didn’t think so.
