Zicasso helps travelers with multi-destination trips

If your trip involves one destination and you know what to do once you get there, you can go to traditional sites like Orbitz or Expedia. However, if you need to book multiple destinations and you require different itineraries for each place, Zicasso may be what you’re looking for.

Founded by husband-and-wife team Brian Tan and Yuchun Ku, the site is a marketplace that connects travelers and travel companies or tour operators. It is also a place where travelers can exchange ideas and reviews of the travel companies and their destination. It’s a site designed for those in the luxury travel market, three star itineraries or above.

How does it work? The traveler fills out a request form, telling the site your destination(s), dates (flexible or not), number in party, services needed (car with driver, travel guide, cruise, etc.), and star level (3 stars or above).

Once the traveler fills out the information and contact information, the request is sent to the travel companies or tour operators. If there is something unclear about the information, Zicasso will contact the traveler first. The traveler will then receive quotes from up to three travel planners, usually within two to three business days.

After a travel planner is chosen, the traveler can contact the planner and discuss any itineraries and refine them as necessary.

Once the traveler has committed to purchase the itinerary from the travel planner, Zicasso asks that he or she indicate that to Zicasso. The traveler will then pay the travel planner according to the planner’s terms.

After the trip, the traveler can then share feedback about the travel planner and the trip with the rest of the Zicasso community. Only travelers who purchased on Zicasso is eligible to share reviews.

I’ve checked out the site and, even though Zicasso is based in Mountain View, Calif., you cannot choose a destination within the contiguous 48 states. Looking at the Frequently Asked Questions section, Zicasso, in the future, plans to only handle Hawaii and Alaska trips.

If you’re looking for itineraries in the 48 states, Canada, Bermuda, or the Bahamas, look to sites like TravelMuse. Better yet, check with your local travel agent.
