Clear encrypts computers and gets TSA OK to enroll more passengers

Since we have covered the Clear program’s problems, and now that the TSA has approved their company, Verified Indentity Pass Inc., to continue enrollment of new passengers, you should know the following information.

According to Bloomberg News — “Verified Identity Pass Inc., the largest operator of a quick-check security program in U.S. airports, will be allowed to again enroll new customers after the company encrypted its computers, a federal agency said.”

This company is the operator of the Clear program that recently had its computer “go missing.” This episode raised many questions about protection of sensitive personal data. The stakes here are higher than with a basic business — Verified Identity Pass, Inc. is approved and vetted by the US government. Therefore, they have to meet an exacting standard.
